THEATER

Matilda - Vocal Coaching Sessions on Wednesday, September 8th and 15th from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Matilda - Acting Coaching Sessions on Wednesday, September 22nd and 29th from 3:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Sessions are not required, but highly recommended for serious consideration for a part in this year's musical.

ABOUT MR. MURPHY

Mr. Murphy graduated from West Liberty University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education. While at West Liberty University, he was active in Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Men's Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and Marching Band as a trombonist and pianist. In 2021, Mr. Murphy graduated from Northern State University with a Masters of Music Education.

Mr. Murphy has been the Choral Director and Music Teacher at Sherrard Middle School since February of 2016. While at Sherrard Middle School he has also taught class piano, guitar, and co-directed the theater program. From 2017-2020, Mr. Murphy sat on the Executive Board for the West Virginia Music Educators Association where he served as the President for the Society for General Music and the Public Relations Chair for the West Virginia All-State Children's Chorus. In 2019 he was a semi-finalist for the Grammy Music Educator's Award.

In addition to his work with the Marshall County School District, Mr. Murphy has also been the Music Director at Bellaire Christian Church since 2011 and maintains a small private voice and piano studio. When he is not working in the field of music, Mr. Murphy enjoys spending time with family, exploring the great outdoors, taking random drives, watching comedy and action movies, and learning new things.
